  Part-Time : 10-12 hours/week @ $12.00/hour


Abstract : The Suquamish Farmers Market (SFM) Manager ensures the Farmers Market operates in compliance with the Washington State Farmers Market Association (WSFMA) rules, State Laws, Health Codes and Organizational rules. The Market Manager also completes office duties related to planning, record keeping and correspondence for the Market. Under the guidance of the Suquamish Farmers Market Board of Directors, the Market Manager will also perform the following:

  • Act as the on-site. coordinator for the Farmers Market

                     Oversee the set-up, operation and shut down of the market

                     Ensure the market site is clean at the end of each market day
                     Collect payment from vendors at market closure, complete logs and reports
                     Provide customer service to consumers at the market by staffing the market informational booth

  • Assist in recruiting farmers and other producers to participate in the market
  • Work with farmers and other vendors responding to questions and concerns
  • Enact market promotions as directed by the organizations management
  • Assist in scheduling and hosting market events as  directed by the organizations management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The Market Manager is required to:

  • Work at the Farmers Market location specified by the SFM Board of Directors, which is outside and involves all weather conditions. The SFM does not have a centralized office location; therefore the Market Manager must  be able to work from another location on recorded keeping , correspondence, planning and other SFM activities
  • Pick up the market day supplies & signage from a storage location and transport them to/from  the market location
  • Interact with farmers, vendors and the general public
  • Be able to lift equipment (weighing a minimum of 25lbs.) in and out of a vehicle, up off the ground and over his/her head
  • Be a Licensed Driver with a safe driving record
  • Work flexible hours
  • Have reliable transportation


  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Experience with Farmers Markets or Washington agriculture a strong plus
  • Experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Graphic design capabilities a plus
  • Willingness to show initiative and creativity. Must be organized and reliable
  • Posses a strong work ethic and be self-motivated
  • A good sense of humor
  • Ability to recruit and manage volunteers

 Conditions and Benefits:

  • This is a part-time, flexible position with hours ranging from 10-12 hrs. per week during the SFM season, and very limited time in the off season, as directed by the SFM Board of Directors
  • Starting wage is $12.00hour
  • This is a contract position, with no benefits or vacation pay
